Under the Fifth Sun
The “Chiracahua Nation” is a group of people (mainly claiming descent from various Indian tribes of the southwest) who have taken control over, and held an area to the south of the Golden Republic and southwest of the Auraria Enclave, near present-day Ken Caryl Valley and Chatfield Lake. Though they have taken the name of the tribal group that Geronimo was most closely associated with, that name is more likely indicative of their attitudes towards whites and outsiders than of any actual blood relationship.
They are a proud group, and aggressively protect the land they claim as theirs. At present, there are no open hostilities between them and either the Republic or the Enclave, though relations with the Enclave are tense and strained, with recent open hostilities still fresh in the minds of both sides after the Nation took and held an Enclave-maintained station that held some promise for high-technology capabilities. The area surrounding the station was non-technological/high-magic, and contended to be sacred ground by the Nation. Though casualties were minimal, when the Nation took the station, they cut the Enclave off from a rare tech/magic border-area and an even rarer high-tech-capable region, and the loss, while, not crippling or critical, was certainly felt.
The Chiracahua Nation is believed to have several magic-capable shamans and other magicians, and they have demonstrated a solid knack for tricky tactics and unusual nature-magic-based strategies and tactics over the years. They maintain an active watchpost on the nearby hogback range which has grown to nearly castle-like proportions (though not to any European architectural layout).
